This is a list of current ethical business projects and new social enterprises which already exist, or which are in process of being launched with the help of Ray Murray. His involvement varies from simply being a creative process facilitator from time to time, to being one of the co-founders or co-initiators of the project.

 

 

 

 

Latest Project: The SolaRoof Foundation (SRF):

SRF is a completely new initiative, in process of being launched as a new for-profit Global Social Enterprise via an international joint venture between Richard Nelson the Canadian inventor of SolaRoof Technology;  Schumacher College at Dartington Hall, Devon, England Third Planet in the USA.. (The SolaRoof Foundation will be part of Third Planet) . The core theme here is the pragmatic application of Biomimicry,.

 

Rick Nelson’s SolaRoof Technology is a world-class example of the application of Biomimicry in Technology.

 

Specifically, through the use of Whole Systems Thinking and the application of Biomimicry in Technology, Rick has invented a range of SolaRoof Structures which are, in effect, “21st Century Super Greenhouses”.

 

These structures allow for Controlled Environment Agriculture (for production of fruit and vegetables etc), plus Controlled Environment Aquaculture (for production of fish, shrimp etc) plus Controlled Environment Algaeculture (for production of vegetable oils etc.,)  

 

However, this new global social enterprise will also demonstrate the application of Biomimicry in Business, where all the Business Processes of the venture will be structured to conform with Natural Law, hence the involvement of Ray Murray who is advising on what this entails. Ray will also act as an Ethical Business Process Facilitator on ad hoc basis in the future.

 

The broad aims of SRF will be to help people around the world to grow their own food and bio-fuel using the super-efficient SolaRoof Technology. Phase 1 Pilot Project and Phase 2 Demonstration Project to be located on the Dartington Hall Estate has been agreed. That agreement is now in process of becoming a formal contract, whilst the Pilot and Demonstration Projects themselves are currently being designed and investors / funding sought. The Business Benefit (TBB):

TBB was recently successfully launched as a new for-profit Local Social Enterprise in the West Midlands, England. The founder of this project, Gary Lennon, proprietor of Ideas 2 Reality had the basic idea, but zero budget to launch this enterprise. Without Ray’s services being provided in this instance on a zero-fee basis, Gary would simply not have been able to establish The Business Benefit. However, now this enterprise has been commenced, it is already rapidly growing and has triggered the growth of a new ethical business community in the West Midlands region. Really Lovely People (RLP):

 

Ray was a co-initiator of this project in November 2008, when Ray worked for several months to assist the RLP  founder, Roy Martin MBE, to envision the potential of RLP and how it could work. After several months of “behind the scenes” development, Really Lovely as now formally being established as an enterprise that is due to be launched before end of 2009. Ray will RLP as new for-profit International Social Enterprise centred around creating a network of integrity based businesses and promoting those individual businesses via the RLP website / videosite - which is still being designed and constructed. The Devon Life-Change Centre (DLC):

 

DLC is a completely new initiative which is essentially an attempt by the proprietor of the popular but small (and therefore struggling) Devon Valley Retreat to survive the current economic realities of tourism in the UK. Her wish is to transform the existing vegetarian “Bed & Breakfast” facility into a Life-Change Centre and turn it into a more economically viable base which may be used by herself and the many other complementary therapists who live in the area. Five Dollar Books (FDB):

 

FDB is a personal “fun” project of Ray Murray which will nonetheless create a new ehtical business that will promote new authors of factual, semi-factual and fictional books about: “The Good, The Great & The Godly”. (This website, which is currently under design and development, mainly shows “mock-up” examples of books that are not yet written)  (Founder / Website designer & webmaster)
